FAQ

How many people can attend?

There is no minimum or maximum number of guests for wine tasting. Whether you're planning an intimate tasting for 5 people or a large-scale event for 100+ guests, Sophia can create an experience that works for your group.

Smaller events tend to be more personal and interactive, with plenty of discussion and opportunities for guests to ask questions. Larger events often have a more energetic, buzzing atmosphere, with a format designed to keep everyone engaged and involved.

Both styles are fantastic in their own way. Whatever the size of your group, Sophia will work with you to create the right format, atmosphere and tasting experience to suit your guests and event objectives.

And whether your event is in Harrogate, Leeds, Bradford or York and surrounding areas I am happy to recommend some venues to suit your wine tasting.

Do guests need wine knowledge?

Not at all! Everyone is welcome, from complete wine novices to seasoned connoisseurs.

My aim is to create an enjoyable and inclusive experience where everyone feels comfortable getting involved. In fact, I'm always happy to try my hand at converting a die-hard beer drinker to the wonders of wine!

Each tasting is carefully designed to offer something for everyone. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy digging deeper into grape varieties, regions and winemaking, while beginners leave with practical tips, new discoveries and greater confidence in choosing and enjoying wine.

Whatever your level of knowledge, you'll find plenty to taste, learn and talk about.

Can you provide non-alcoholic options?

Yes. While my expertise and passion lie in wine, I want all guests to feel included and enjoy the experience.

For non-alcoholic guests, my preferred option is a high-quality kombucha. Much like wine, it offers complexity, balance and flavour, making it an excellent choice for tasting experiences and food pairings. I can source and provide these on request.

I don't routinely provide soft drinks such as cola, lemonade or fruit juices, as these are widely available through venues and caterers. If your event includes non-drinkers, please let me know when enquiring and we can discuss the most suitable options for your guests.

Do you travel outside Yorkshire?

Absolutely. Yorkshire is home, and most of my events take place in Harrogate, Ilkley, Leeds, Bradford and surrounding areas, but I do travel throughout the UK for corporate events, private tastings and wine experiences.

Travel costs are charged in addition to the event fee, and depending on the location and finish time, accommodation may also be required. Every event is unique, so if you're interested in working together, get in touch and we can discuss the details.

No matter where your event is taking place, I'll always be happy to explore the possibilities.

How long does a typical event last?

Most wine tasting events last between 90 minutes and 2 hours and typically include 5–7 wines, depending on the format and style of the event.

That said, every event is tailored to your needs. Whether you're looking for a shorter tasting as part of a larger event or a more in-depth experience, timings and wine selections can be adapted to suit your schedule, audience and objectives.

We'll discuss the details when planning your event to create the perfect experience for your guests.

Can wine and food pairings be included?

Absolutely. Many of my events are built around the classic pairing of wine and cheese. The way the right wine and cheese enhance one another creates a memorable and engaging experience for guests, and it's one of my favourite styles of tasting to host.

If you're looking for something more bespoke, wine can also be paired with a full meal or specific menu. I'm happy to work directly with your venue or caterer to create pairings that complement the food and elevate the overall experience.

I also have relationships with a number of talented private chefs and food professionals in the Harrogate, Ilkley, Leeds and Bradford area and can put you in touch if you'd like to create something truly special. Whether it's a relaxed cheese and wine evening, a corporate dinner or a fully curated food and wine experience, we can design an event that suits your guests and objectives.

What is the cost of a corporate wine tasting?

Every event is tailored to your requirements, so pricing varies depending on the wines selected, whether food pairings are included, the number of guests, the location and the overall style of experience you'd like to create.

As a guide, there is a minimum event spend of £900. For larger groups, this can represent excellent value per guest, while more premium experiences featuring higher-end wines, food pairings or bespoke elements may exceed £100 per person.

My approach is always to create the best possible experience within your budget. Whether you're looking for a relaxed team social, client entertainment event or a premium food and wine experience, we'll discuss your objectives and design an event that works for both your guests and your budget.
